WHO AM I?
My name is Ashley Klaasen. I’m a mom of two, a wife of over 16 years, and a proud resident of Kalamazoo, Michigan. In 2009, I founded Ashley Klaasen Photography, where I specialize in newborn, children, and family photography. In 2022, I expanded my passion by launching Bookworm Portraits—a preschool and daycare photography service designed to go beyond the traditional, stale school picture experience, offering families meaningful, high-quality portraits.
WHAT MAKE BOOKWORM PORTRAIT DIFFERENT?
First and foremost, I am one person—educated in photography and qualified through motherhood. I am not a corporation hiring unqualified individuals simply there for a paycheck.
Every student I photograph receives a micro-session of their own. I never rush; instead, I work at each child’s pace to help them feel comfortable and confident, capturing genuine expressions and true smiles.
I will never treat a group of students like an assembly line.
Will I succeed every time? No. But I will always treat your child as the unique individual they are—not just a quick click of my shutter and a flash of my lights.

Access codes will only be provided to parents/guardians of students.
